NEW YEAR’S YOGA RETREAT MEXICO

During the retreat you will have free time to explore and partake in activities of your choice. There are so many amazing things to do and below are some of our recommendations for adventure.
Temazcal Ceremony: Temazcal is a type of sweat lodge, which originated from pre-Hispanic Indigenous cultures in Mesoamerica. The word Temazcal comes from the Nahuatl (Aztec) word temazcalli ("house of heat"). In ancient Mesoamerica it was used as part of a curative ceremony thought to purify the body, mind and spirit. Sweating out toxins to the sound of drum beats and the shaman chanting for you to confront your fears and rid the mind of negative thoughts. It removes past influences so that you can move more courageously into the new year. After this deeply emotional experience we swim in the sea to seal this healing and begin the new year refreshed.
Duration: 2 hours Capacity: 14 people max. / 7 people min.
Donation: $50 USD per person for the guide.
Altavista Hike: Visit the petroglyphs (rock carvings) of Altavista, thought to be around 2,000 years old. The site is still a very important spiritual and ritual place for the Huichol Indigenous communities of the region. The guided trip is a 35-minute car ride each way and then an hour walk through the jungle to the petroglyph site.
The total tour is 3-4 hours, $30 per person, minimum 4 people.
BEGINNERS
SURF LESSON AT CHACALA
Duration: 1 hour
Cost: $40 USD per person, board included
*Beginner lessons are only available at Chacala depending on the surf, which is hard to predict. For guaranteed beginner surf, we suggest Tortugas Beach or Sayulita.
SURF LESSON AT TORTUGAS BEACH
35km from Chacala (35-40min drive, transportation included in lesson price)
Duration: 1 - 1.5 hours
Cost: $65 USD per person, board included. (minimum 4 people, maximum 8)
SURF LESSON AT SAYULITA
Schedule: 9:00am, 12:00pm and 3:00pm
Duration: 2 hours (start with 20 minutes land lesson, rest of the time in the water with your instructor)
Cost: $75 USD per person, board & transportation included.
Lesson takes place at La Lancha Beach (30 min drive from Sayulita)
*Transportation to Sayulita for non-surfers is available at $20 USD per person at above scheduled times.
INTERMEDIATE-ADVANCED
LA CALETA
A secluded surf break about 5-7 minute boat ride away from the hotel beachfront. This wave is most suitable for intermediate surfers because it has a rocky bottom and steep take off sections.
Cost: Boat ride $45 USD (roundtrip, 1-4 ppl). Board rental $15 usd/hour.
